Dear Parents and Community,
On Thursday afternoon, Denver Public Schools’ Department of Safety was notified by Denver Police of a possible child abduction near Cesar Chavez Academy in Northwest Denver. Police said four students, all aged 9, reported observing what appeared to be a child of similar age being pulled into a van. Denver Police and DPS Safety responded immediately and have been on scene for much of the afternoon. DPS Safety contacted principals of all schools in the area and those principals conducted student head counts, confirming all children in attendance today were present. At this time, police are continuing to investigate the possible abduction. Parents, please know the safety of your children is our top concern and we will provide additional information as it becomes available. In the meantime, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your school leader or call our family helpline at 720-423-3054.
